How I grew my hair an inch in 4 weeks

So for anyone who knows me personally will know that my journey has been long-winded and expensive. For years I have tried to find the right combination of products and routine to help retain the length of my hair and improve the thickness. Now unfortunately I haven’t found a foolproof routine or a magic product that helps my hair grow/ retain length as well as be thicker. However, I am on my way regarding actually making my hair grow and actually retain length. Read on to find out what I have been doing as well as a new brand that I have discovered.

A few years back I discovered the curly girl method founded in America, it followed some of the same principles that I had already adopted including deep conditioning and shampooing less. The main thing that the curly curl educated me on was to take more notice of the ingredients for about a year I religiously stuck to curly girl-approved products and threw out everything that was not approved. Wind forward to now and although I am still conscious about what ingredients are in my hair products I do not use only curly girl approved products. The main thing I have continued to do is the routine of washing my hair with a sulfate-free shampoo or conditioner, leave-in, and gel. However, I have also added oil or hair butter into my routine which is where my new discovery comes in….

First, let me explain how I found the brand. In lockdown, I decided to focus a bit more of my time on my hair as I had the time to do so. I went back to my trusty friend YouTube and timed in how to grow your hair fast, I already knew there was no one product that would do this or a specific routine but wanted to see if I could find someone with my hair type and see what that they were using. That’s when I came across Mel’s World, he was similar to mine on a good in regards to mine but thicker and longer. I started watching her videos which included a range of different products and routines.

There was one video in particular that caught my attention “SIS, I GREW 2 INCHES IN WEEKS 😲 WITH A SIMPLE DIY ROUTINE” my ears pricked up with my excitement, expecting it to be a routine or a product I could just pick up off the shelf. To my surprise, the product was actually from her own range Amare me, an all-natural hair oil. In the video, she explained that she didn’t believe this one product had made all the difference as she had a good routine however she explained that she has consciously used the hair oil every night for the past two months. I finished watching the video and jumped straight on her website to purchase it, I also purchased the hair butter as I remembered she had mentioned using it before and it was something that was not already in my routine and I wanted to give it a try. Now first of all I have to be honest and say I have not used the hair oil or butter every day, however, my hair still grew. I believe the combination of ingredients has promoted healthy hair to grow and my routine has allowed that new growth to retain as the ends have not broken.

The main way in which I use the hair oil is as a hot oil treatment before I wash my hair, at a minimum, I leave it on for an hour at the most I have left it overnight. I then normally wash it out with a sulfate-free shampoo and then deep condition as normal. I do this every week before I wash my hair. In regards to the butter, I use it after I have put on my leave-in conditioner after washing my hair and sometimes I will apply it to my ends before going to sleep. Both products have a herbal smell which could be offensive to some people I usually ensure I use a sweet smelling leave-in to try and balance out the smell.

I can’t believe the difference in such a short time, yes it is still thin and the curls are not as defined as I would like however it has most definitely grown in length and at the roots is does look and feel noticeably thicker. My goal for the next month is to try to make a conscious effort to use these two products more and I am also planning on purchases more products from the range. I will update you guys on my progress in a month or so.

Here’s to a happy life and happy hair. Take care guys and if you can’t be good, be careful x
